As a travel consultant for more than 15 years, I like to think of myself as part counselor and part friend. I’m a real people person, and I love getting to know my clients and hearing their stories. As I work with them on their plans, I get truly excited sharing all the options available to them. For first-time travelers, I do my best to conjure up images of what they can expect during their trip. I have the ability to read people, and when I see a glimmer in their eyes in response to something I’ve said, I follow their lead, fine-tuning their itinerary to meet their needs and wishes. The end result is a vacation that’s just right for them.
I joined The Cruise Company in July of 2000 when I moved from Castro Valley to Modesto. Before then, I spent five years specializing in honeymoons, which I still delight in planning. Most of the time, a honeymoon is the first big trip for a couple, and it starts the marriage off right. They look forward to it eagerly, and when it’s over, they remember it forever. I relish being part of that process.
I’m equally passionate about planning cruises, because that’s the type of vacation I most enjoy. I’ve even taken my kids – Kyle and Sabrina – on several ships, and now they’re hooked, asking me when we’ll get to go again. Cruises provide great value, allowing people to choose from a wide range of shore excursions, destinations and onboard options. Of course, not every cruise line is right for every person. Sometimes clients will ask for a particular ship based on a friend’s recommendation, but as we start to chat, I’ll realize that they would be better suited for something different. That’s where my expertise comes in. I have achieved top agent status with most every cruise line; onboard, I observe everything and get as much feedback from fellow passengers as possible. All of this hard work allows me to advise my clients on the overall cruise experience as well as the most minute details that can make or break a trip.
My journeys have taken me to some of the world’s most treasured places, like Hawaii, Mexico and Fiji, but my favorite destination is the Caribbean. I’m enchanted by its crystal waters and white-sand beaches, and I adore snorkeling among colorful tropical fish. I’m ready to go there again in a heartbeat. Meanwhile, I’m eager to help you discover destinations that will turn into favorites of your own.
Dream Trip:
As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to visit Tahiti, not only for its natural beauty but its culture and lifestyle. In fact, when I was nine years old, I won first place in a Tahitian dancing contest! I’d like to begin the trip with an overview of all the islands, preferably on a ten-night excursion with Princess Cruises. Then I’d spend two or three nights in Moorea in an overwater bungalow, an accommodation that looks like the ultimate in romance. My favorite time to travel is fall, when the prices are cheaper and kids are back in school. I’ve put a variety of enticing Tahiti pictures on my desk, and each day when I see them I’m motivated to make this dream a reality.
